As we said before, politics and with it press, it's a very recurrent theme in Bolivia.
Street trade is fundamental in Bolivia, wheter is fast food, clothes or any object.
At the selling points we always find women, they are in charge of trading at this scale, that in Bolivia is huge.
It's a lot of working hours and it's not rare to see some of these women sleeping at midday.
At the popular markets there is a good part of village life, some have told us there exists barter as payment in some parts.
To eat, the most part of the time people make it in the streets. Life hope here is under 60, in part duue to salubrity.
In this picture we see some Bolivians representative of rural areas. The "Cholitas" representative with their hat, blue hat man chewing coca, trade ... Today, farmers have regained pride lost by years of state indifference. The Government's current policy is directed primarily to defense of the peasants, or as stated in the Constitution, Indian peasant origin. This creates discomfort in the upper layers of society and at the same time is understood by some of the Indians in an arrogant way. The "Jaiones" (from High Society) are upset because they have lost many benefits and are not willing to surrender, hence the request for division into autonomous regions, quite similar to the Spanish system. So far it is difficult to know who is right, but in general, people agree that a change was needed.
As we said political and social are very present and its demonstrations can be appreciate very frequent.
It is common to find people going into the "micros" (buses) to ask for money, especially if they have a disability that prevents them from working. In the long-way buses is normal to find even more of a travel seller that offers miracle pills and herbs for all kinds of diseases. It is surprising to see many people who purchase these products.
One of the policies pursued by Evo has been to develop rural areas. Thus, we have been told, that these basketball courts have been built over the past three years. Before the funds were divided state into two parts, one for the region of Santa Cruz and another for other regions including rural areas which did not come to anything, so they were quite unprotected. Now it is divided equally among all the regions and a partof that portion is removed for the farmers of that region. This has come further aid to the countryside, such as bonds.
One is the income dignity, which is 200 bolivianos per month (about € 22, which allows you to eat for several days) for those older than 65 years. Others take it as an insult and that life expectancy is below 60.
Another bonus is Juancito Pinto is 400 bolivianos, giving half to the beginning of the school year and half to finish for children between 7 and 9 years. The criticism in this case go to the aid given at the end of each period so the child can not truly enjoy them, that many parents will spend on other things, they say it should be given in school material.
